The local success stories prove the point. Biller Genie just made the Florida Fast 50 list with 670% revenue growth over two years. They’re automating accounts receivable for small businesses, but they’re using technical talent that could just as easily be working at Lockheed Martin or Disney. That’s talent mobility you can’t find in Austin or Miami.
So, when you see DeepWork Capital investing in Circuitry.ai, or Antycip landing multi-year Royal Air Force contracts with their Mass Virtual partnership, or NASA giving Katalyst Space Technologies that observatory contract, these aren’t isolated wins. This is systematic advantage finally getting the recognition and capital it deserves.

But we need to see how Orlando is affected by the Army’s decision to retire TRADOC after 52 years and launch T2COM in Austin.

The capital allocation is real, the operational advantages are measurable, and the competitive positioning creates sustainable business advantages rather than temporary job creation.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND ORLANDO THIS MONTH
You’ve got to see what Epic Theatres is doing in Deltona. They’re launching America’s first 4D E-Motion cinema experience in November, and it sounds wild. We’re talking synchronized wind, water, vibration, scents, and air effects during movies. It’s LUMMA’s immersive technology that’s already in 75+ theaters across 15 countries, but we’re getting the U.S. debut. They’re planning to show major blockbusters like “Wicked” and upcoming “Avatar” sequels in this format.
The airport hotel got a serious upgrade too. Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport just finished Phase One of their renovation, they redid their massive 10,000-square-foot Continental Ballroom that can fit up to 1,000 people. Phase Two starts in 2026, and they’re updating the lobby bar, Market area, and conference facilities.
And here’s something cool, we’re attracting national talent programs. Rally TWO brought their summer 2025 social entrepreneur fellows here for workshops and community partnerships. They even covered housing and travel for the out-of-town participants. Orlando Magazine also dropped their annual 50 Most Powerful People lists covering business, tourism, aerospace, and tech sectors featuring long time Innovate Orlando supporter Blue Wave Resource Partners. Plus, Massey Services got recognized as a Top Workplace in Central Florida.
On the community front, there’s good stuff happening. OUC launched a new partnership connecting households with energy bill assistance. The Orlando Economic Partnership went back to Taiwan to work on global business opportunities. Licensed contractor Hartfield Complete Services is integrating advanced technology to transform construction.
So yeah, it’s a mix of entertainment innovation, infrastructure improvements, and community partnerships, the kind of stuff that keeps Orlando moving forward.
UNIVERSITIES ARE ACTUALLY BUILDING TOMORROW’S WORKFORCE
Look, here’s something with real numbers behind it, 13 Embry-Riddle students just landed DoD SMART scholarships worth over $200K each in debt avoidance plus guaranteed jobs. These aren’t just scholarships, they’re full ride deals that include guaranteed employment at places like the Naval Information Warfare Center, Missile Defense Agency, and National Air & Space Intelligence Center. Emily Coello gets to work on robotics at NIWC Atlantic, Jacob Blanton lands at Missile Defense Agency working on hypersonic rocket propulsion. That’s systematic talent placement with measurable ROI, not career counseling.
Now here’s where it gets interesting, UCF’s new Institute of Artificial Intelligence isn’t just another research center. The institute brings together 25 faculty across four colleges working on computer vision, robotics, machine learning, healthcare AI, finance, and mathematics. UCF President Alexander Cartwright positioned it perfectly: “As Florida’s Premier Engineering and Technology University, UCF is uniquely positioned to lead in this critical space”.
Here’s what makes this more than wishful thinking. UCF’s computer vision research already ranks #8 nationally, they’ve got major funding from DARPA ($1.2M grant) and NSF, and they’ve hired 11 new AI faculty in the past two years with eight more joining this fall. When you’re already performing at that level and you systematically build faculty expertise, that’s the kind of foundation that creates regional competitive advantages.
The pattern is clear: universities here aren’t just educating students, they’re creating talent pipelines with measurable results.
