SUMMARY:We Hate Code! The Joy of Maintaining Dead Code
DESCRIPTION:Orlando JUG (Java User Group)\n## We Hate Code! The Joy of Maintaining Dead Code\n* Do you love to maintain code that you didn’t wrote? Probably not! As systems grow and evolve\, the codebase inevitably accumulates clutter\, including unused or “dead” code. Often the developers who wrote that code are not even in the company anymore. So how do you know if the code is still used? Dead code can be confusing and it can be the source for vulnerabilities in your code base. So it is not only “legacy” code we have to deal with but also “dead” code and even so called “zombie” code.\n* This session will give you an overview over the common struggle with this types of code and it will try to give you an idea about the differences between those types of code and about tools like JaCoCo or OpenRewrite in combination with Intelligence Cloud\, that will help you to get rid of it.\n## Format\n* 6:30pm — Welcome & networking: **Pizza\, drinks and name tags will be provided—come hungry and ready to connect!**\n* 7:00pm — Get people into the auditorium.\n* 7:05pm — Orlando JUG opening remarks (next events\, news\, etc.).\n* 7:10pm — Featured presentation.\n* 8:20pm — Q&A. **Two attendees will each win an IntelliJ IDEA license!**\n## Speaker\n* (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerritgrunwald/): Someone that loves coding for around 40 years already\, interested in desktop\, mobile and IoT projects based on all possible technologies. Loves all things Java. Founder and leader of Java User Group Münster (Germany)\, JavaOne rockstar and Java Champion. Speaker at conferences and user groups internationally.\n## Links\n* Orlando JUG: (https://www.meetup.com/orlando-jug-java-user-group/)\n* Gerrit Grunwald @ LinkedIn: (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerritgrunwald/)\n* Percy Vega @ LinkedIn: (https://www.linkedin.com/in/percyvega/)\n## Parking\n* Paid in garages downtown or in street parking via ParkMobile.\n## Sponsors\n* (https://www.orlandodevs.com/): ODevs is a vibrant community of software developers\, designers\, and tech enthusiasts in the Orlando and Central Florida area\, dedicated to fostering growth\, collaboration\, and knowledge sharing among its members.\n* (https://www.jetbrains.com/): JetBrains develops a suite of developer tools\, including Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)\, team tools\, and other software designed to enhance programmer productivity and code quality.
