Overview

Innovate Orlando, a leading non-profit organization committed to establishing Orlando as a premier

Global Tech Hub, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will

play a crucial role in revising, prioritizing, and executing the strategic plan ("Breakthrough Orlando")

and will report directly to the Board of Directors. This position demands a charismatic leader with a

passion for innovation, community engagement, and sustainable growth capable of uniting

disparate voices and perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Solidify, streamline, prioritize, and update the “Breakthrough Orlando" strategic plan, aligning all initiatives with the mission and vision of Innovate Orlando.

 

Strategic Execution: Lead the implementation of the "Breakthrough Orlando" strategic plan, uniting the community, driving innovation, and illuminating the unique characteristics and strengths of the Central Florida high tech ecosystem.

 

Branding and Advocacy: Position Orlando as a Global Tech Hub through strategic marketing, public relations, and community engagement. Serve as the public face of the organization, advocating for its mission across diverse audiences.

 

Community Building: Oversee and expand the "Orlando Tech Community" membership organization. Plan and execute events, manage existing committees, and foster a collaborative environment that supports tech innovation and growth across the full spectrum of the ecosystem.

 

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector partners. Collaborate with local government, businesses, and community leaders to further the organization’s goals.

 

Financial Management: Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, payroll, and reporting, utilizing financial tools to ensure transparency and accountability.

 

Fundraising: Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support from both private and public sectors. Cultivate relationships with donors and sponsors to ensure the sustainability of Innovate Orlando’s programs.

 

Team Leadership: Manage a small team of direct and indirect dedicated professionals. Foster a positive, entrepreneurial work environment that encourages creativity and results-driven performance.

 

Project Management: Lead large-scale projects, such as contributing to the design and direction of the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center renovation, ensuring timely and successful completion and place-making for the future of a growing tech hub and ecosystem.

 

Process Management: Facilitate and lead regular board meetings/updates on a quarterly basis with the Board Chair and other executive board members, or as necessary.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a similar role, preferably within a non-profit or tech-focused organization.

 

• Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to drive innovation and growth.

 

• Expertise or commensurate experience in finance, marketing, public relations, and operations.

 

• Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills; ability to engage, aim, and inspire diverse audiences.

 

• Proficiency in QuickBooks and/or other financial management software.

 

• Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations.

 

• Ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.

 

• Passion for technology and community development.
